Samuel (1833-1912) was born in Gays River, farmed, and lived his whole life in the community. In 1855, he married Lavinia H. Merson (1834-1910). Though they had seven children, some of their children died early under tragic circumstances. The fortunes of others are lost and we know only about the two youngest.

Clara Crawford Cook Jackson (1873-1933)

Clara was born in Gays River and became a school teacher. Teaching may account for her coming to live in Lorneville, Cumberland County, NS. In 1905 she married William Hudson Jackson (1865-1949), farmer and insurance agent. Three children were born to them.
