Both James Cook and Ann McConnell were born in Rowan County, North Carolina. Their marriage bond is registered there in 1774. By September 1802, James Cook is buying 120 acres of land at a place called Nine Mile Creek in Blount County, Tennessee. Early Tennessee began as territory under the jurisdiction of North Carolina, so early land records may be located in more than one place. Further study is called for about this family.
